Data Report of XDX® Refrigeration Method for Industrial Refrigeration, Grant Award Number: 96-32551 Department of Commerce and Community Affairs (DCCA)
This project is being sponsored by the Illinois Department of Commerce and is being used to show how installing the XDX® system on a 60 HP blast freezer at a bakery processing plant can save considerable energy. Prior to the XDX® installation, the customer had an icing problem on the evaporator of the blast freezer. A contributing factor for this icing problem was the temperature of the product that was placed into the blast freezer. The product was placed into the blast freezer with a temperature of 140°F and the moisture in and around the product would be reduced during the freezing process.
This project has demonstrated that the XDX® system can significantly reduce electric energy usage and electric demand when it is retrofitted to conventional industrial refrigeration systems. XDX Innovative Refrigeration Corporation, located in the Chicago area has developed a refrigeration technology that promises to offer significant operation efficiency improvements for refrigeration equipment in the kindred foods industry. The Energy Division of DCCA strongly endorses this work. (DCCA) requests that the U. S. Department of Energy provide partial financial support for the Energy Resources Center-XDX Corporation efficiency refrigeration program.
