1999 Report and Summary document of an operational comparison test between conventional refrigeration and XDX in both low and medium temperature applications.
Operational tests were conducted at an operating convenience store in Mokena, Illinois. Tests were run under typical commercial convenience store conditions, with typical customer usage of the refrigeration equipment monitored. We monitored a five door freezer system at low temperature and an eleven door walk-in cooler display system in medium temperature application. The cooler also had service doors to the backroom and parking lot.
The following observations were made:
• XDX® is more efficient, saving 18-24% power consumption
• Use of XDX® decreases defrost cycles.
o Observed one (1) defrost in 35 days for –18°F freezer application.
o No defrost cycles for thirty-five (35) days in a 31°F cooler application
• XDX® maintains constant product temperature as a result of less defrost cycles
• Faster pull-down to desired temperature is achieved with XDX®
• Less condensation is produced when XDX® is used
